Audit and Accounts
All academy trusts are required to appoint auditors and file audited accounts with the Education Funding Agency (EFA) and Companies House.
Statutory Audit
Academy trusts must appoint an auditor to certify whether the accounts present a true and fair view of the trust’s financial performance and position.
We understand that the year end audit process can be a daunting prospect for academies. At Griffin, we look to work with our clients to make the year end audit process as smooth as possible.
Accounts Preparation
Academy accounts must be prepared in a specific format as set out in the Academies Accounts Direction. Our team of accountants are specialists in the academy sector and have a wealth of experience preparing academy accounts which are fully compliant with the requirements of the Accounts Direction.

We pride ourselves on our professionalism and knowledge. Let us put that to use to start benefiting your academy.
Regularity Audit
An accounting officer’s statement on regularity, propriety and compliance must be included in the academy trust’s annual report. This statement must be accompanied by an Independent Accountants Assurance Report.
We perform our audit work on regularity and propriety along with the statutory audit, so there is no further disruption for your finance team. We also provide guidance to academies throughout the year to help them ensure they are compliant with the regularity requirements of the Academies Financial Handbook.
Teachers’ Pensions Audit
Every April the Teachers’ Pensions Scheme will provide you with a blank End of Year Certificate (EOYC) with the figure of Contributions Received by Teachers’ Pensions in the year. This form should be completed information from your payroll reports, audited and submitted by the last working day in May, along with an Auditors Certificate.
Our Accountants are very experienced in preparing and auditing the EOYC. We provide our clients with a detailed list of what information we will require, so they can be prepared and we can complete our work with as little disruption as possible.
